Therapeutic Life Story Work International (TLSWi)

Welcome to Therapeutic Life Story Work International. My aim for this professional association is simply to collate best practice and to share skills and techniques with all those who work with children and young people through the therapeutic use of Life Story.

As we build this site, founding members will be invited to contribute and shape the association and to support its development.

Since 1997 I have been working with children and young people through a therapeutic life story process. My work has been published through two books and various articles, and I am pleased to witness the intervention’s development through the work and writing of Joy Rees, Vera Fahlberg, Katie French, Polly Baines, Tony Ryan and Rodger Walker. In 2014 CTIS, the Institute for Arts and Therapy in Education (IATE) and the University of East London (UEL) launched the first Diploma in Therapeutic Life Story Work. The course has proved to be successful in its pilot year and I am pleased to announce that a further 2 courses will be held in 2015 and a course offered in Australia for October 2015.

it is clear that a professional association is required to drive forward excellence and provide congruence for the service through support, guidance and supervision. I am therefore proud to announce the launch of TLSWI and encourage you to apply for membership of the organisation. Detail of membership, application and further information can be provided by contacting CTIS by using the form to your right. Membership will require agreement to a Code of Ethics, References and evidence of DBS (Enhanced Police Checks). Membership is open to all students qualified or training on the Diploma and those that have attended TLSW training, registered therapists and therapeutic social workers. Membership Fees are £75 for the first year and £50 for each subsequent year – Members will be able to apply for ‘TLSWI Approved’ branding through CTIS; receive quarterly newsletters, engage with online and offline support and access the ‘coffee shop’ to share and reflect with other members. Interested? Please contact us or register.
